The City Arts Grants program is designed to provide financial support for arts programs and projects in Salt Lake City.

Access the ONLINE GRANTS PROCESS system here

The Salt Lake City Arts Council Board places a priority on those programs that best reflect the Arts Council’s mission and values.

City Arts Grants can support only those programs and projects which take place within Salt Lake City limits. Review Salt Lake City boundaries here: https://www.slc.gov/council/about-us/find-your-council-member/

The City Arts Grants program is competitive and includes a rigorous application review process. A newly completed application must be submitted each year and a grant award in one year does not guarantee an award for the following year. The award of City Arts Grants is made at the sole discretion of the Salt Lake City Arts Council and the decision of the board is final.

ALL CITY ARTS GRANT APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE. PAPER COPIES OR EMAILED PDF DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

CURRENT GRANT PROGRAMS

PROJECT SUPPORT GRANTS

Project Support grants are awarded to individuals, groups, and nonprofit organizations for specific arts projects and programs which are determined to be of value to the community. Concerts, performances, festivals, workshops, and readings are examples of projects eligible for funding through Project Support grants. Project Support grants have an at least one-to-one cash matching requirement.

Projects must include community engagement activities. This includes projects and activities undertaken by an organization or group as part of a mission strategy to build deep relationships between the organization/group and the communities in which it operates for the purpose of achieving mutual benefit. GENERAL SUPPORT GRANTS

General Support grants assist arts organizations with general operating expenses and the continuation or expansion of arts programming in Salt Lake City. Organizations funded in General Support must demonstrate high artistic/programming excellence and demonstrate a positive impact on the community.

The review of a General Support grant application includes an assessment of the advancement of artistic excellence, the budget (which must include a match of at least one-to-one), the quality of programming, community support, and number of people served.

ARTIST-IN-THE-CLASSROOM

Artist-in-the-Classroom grants provide funding for elementary schools in the Salt Lake City School District to support the placement of professional artists in the classroom during school hours. This residency program is designed to augment existing arts activities during the school-day and should not be used for after-school programming.

If awarded, the Artist-in-the-Classroom grant will be $2,000. Artist-in-the-Classroom grant applications will be reviewed once during the grant year.

ARTIST CAREER EMPOWERMENT GRANT

The Artist Career Empowerment Grant program was designed to provide financial support to individual artists and creative entrepreneurs to help stimulate, advance, and empower their creative interests and commercial enterprises. The goal of this grant is to provide economic opportunity and benefit to both the individual artist recipient, as well as the arts and cultural sectors, the creative community, and the economic ecosystems of our city.

RACIAL EQUITY & INCLUSION GRANT

The Racial Equity & Inclusion Grant program was designed to cultivate greater and more consistent efforts and outputs related to racial equity, justice, inclusion and liberation for nonprofits in our arts and culture sector.
