During this difficult and unprecedented time, the health and safety of you, your families, and the wider community is of the utmost importance to the Salt Lake Arts Council. Following the directives of the State, County, and City Officials, the Arts Council will postpone the May 2020 Living Traditions Festival. We have tentatively scheduled the Festival for the weekend of September 18th, 2020 and will provide updates and information as the rescheduled dates are confirmed.

Additionally, participant application deadlines have been extended for craft artists, performing groups, and community partners. As we anticipate celebrating this event in late summer, we will continue to accept all applications online at livingtraditionsfestival.com.

The Living Traditions Festival is a vital part of our community. The preservation, education, and inclusion of Utah’s diverse and cultural landscape along with the artistic traditions that reflect these cultural perspectives are important for sustaining a unique, equitable, and vibrant community. Sharing languages, food, art, dance, and traditions is one of the most effective ways to facilitate meaningful conversations, create bonds among community members, challenge stereotypes, and consider the historical, social, and artistic context of our cultures. We are saddened that we will not be presenting our event this May, but we anxiously await celebrating with the community later this year.

Please contact Arts Council staff with any concerns you may have regarding the postponement of this event. All of our staff are working remotely so email is best. However, if you do not have the ability to email, you can leave a message at the numbers listed below.
