Living Traditions Happening this Weekend

The Living Traditions Festival will take place at Washington Square and Library Square for a three-day festival May 16-18, 2025.

The Living Traditions Festival is happening this weekend from Friday to Sunday. Utahns are invited to enjoy the diverse multicultural offerings of food, live performances, and art from the many communities and cultures that have made Utah their home. There will also be hands-on workshops, food demos, kids activities, and Sundance film screenings throughout the weekend. The festival will be held on May 16-18 at Washington and Library Square. Admission is free for all event attendees.

On Saturday, May 17, Grammy-winning Cuban-Canadian musician Alex Cuba will headline the festival. Known for blending Funk, Soul, and pan-Latin influences, Cuba’s music brings joy and highlights cultural storytelling. His accolades include two Juno Awards, four Latin Grammys, and a 2022 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. Cuba will take the North Stage at 8:30 pm.

The Living Traditions Festival supports diverse artistic traditions and perspectives through the presentation of both historical and contemporary customs. By facilitating thoughtful conversations around the unique qualities of various cultures and the similarities of the human experience, community bonds are created. Salt Lake City has supported Living Traditions for almost 40 years. The contributions from Salt Lake City and sponsors are essential to ensuring the festival remains free and accessible.
