Buskerfest

Two nights. Endless wonders. No ticket required.

May 29 + 30, 2026  |  5–10 pm  |  Main Street & Regent Street, around Eccles Theater

Ladies and gentlemen, dreamers and dawdlers, lovers of the charmingly weird — pull back the velvet curtain, because the most delightfully colorful weekend of the year is rolling back into downtown Salt Lake City.

Busker Fest — presented by the Salt Lake City Arts Council and produced by Primrose Productions — returns Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30, from 5 to 10 pm. It's free. It's all ages. And for two glorious evenings, the sidewalks transform into a sprawling, open-air big top where the only ticket you need is a willingness to gather 'round.

Wait — What's a Busker?

Glad you asked!. A busker is a street performer aka an artist who turns a patch of pavement into a stage and works for whatever tips a delighted crowd is moved to throw in the hat. It's one of the oldest performing-arts traditions on earth.

Expect jugglers. Expect aerialists swinging through the air. Expect fire, feathers, sequins, slapstick, and at least one unicorn on a very tall unicycle. Expect to find yourself in the middle of something extraordinary.

The festival pitches are dotted along the sidewalks of Main Street, McCarthey Plaza, Regent Street, and even the grand lobby of Eccles Theater itself — so wander, pause, gasp, applaud, and let serendipity be your guide.

Meet the Marvels: A Few Acts You Won't Want to Miss

This year's lineup is positively dripping with talent. A small sampling of the wonders awaiting you:

🎯 Her Majesty's Secret Circus

Agents Honeymoon and Butterfly are on a not-so-secret mission. Decked out in ridiculous action suits, they unleash high-energy fire juggling and recruit unsuspecting audience members into their international caper. The grand finale involves a bow, a plunger, and one rider perched atop a giant unicycle. World-touring stunt comedy at its sparkling finest for their very first time gracing Salt Lake's streets.

🐇 Chaos Circus Co: "Mad as a Hatter"

Tumble down the rabbit hole and into the Eccles lobby for a one-night-only Wonderland-themed cabaret. Aerialists, dancers, and a parade of marvelously mad characters await. Friday, May 29 only with shows at 6:30 pm and 9 pm. Seating is first-come, first-served, so don't be late, late for a very important date.

✨ The Silver Starlets

A dazzling aerial duo perched on a twenty-foot trapeze rig, twirling out a glittering cocktail of acrobatics, vintage circus glam, and sly comedy. Strong, sparkly, and absolutely impossible to look away from.

🤹 Marcus, Funny Man Who Does Tricks

Born on April Fools' Day and apparently destined for foolery, this West Jordan favorite first learned to juggle with dinner rolls and oranges at a restaurant job and never stopped.

🦄 The Unicycling Unicorn

Picture, if you will: a world-champion unicyclist with thirty-four years of experience, a rainbow vintage ski onesie, '80s music thumping, and a grand finale atop one of the tallest unicycles on the planet. We will not spoil the rest. We will simply say: this might be the most ridiculous, joyful thing you see all year.

🎪 Cirque du Salt Lake

A homegrown crew of Utah circus acrobats who do, in fact, love to fly.

For the full roster of marvels and showtimes, the Friday and Saturday schedules are live on the festival website.

The Unwritten Rules of the Ring: Busker Etiquette 101

Watching street performances is gloriously different from sitting in a darkened theater — and learning the rhythm of it is half the fun. A few gentle pointers from your friendly neighborhood ringmaster:

  • Tip the talent. This is the headliner of all rules. Buskers work for donations. Your tips are how they make a living and how they keep coming back. Bring small bills, or have Venmo ready on your phone. If a show makes you laugh, gasp, or shed a happy tear, say so with your wallet.
  • Break a big bill at the Bank Booth. If all you've got is a twenty, swing by the "Bank" on Regent Street and they'll break it down so you can scatter your generosity across the festival like circus confetti.
  • Step into the circle. Buskers build their "stage" out of the crowd itself. Step in, form the ring, and become part of the show.
  • Cheer like you mean it. Street performers feed on the energy of the crowd. Your laughter, your gasps, your applause? Those aren't just polite responses, they're part of the act.
  • Bring the little ones. Busker Fest is gleefully all-ages. Just keep tiny humans close so they don't wander into a juggling pin's flight path.

Know Before You Go: Ringmaster's Roadmap

Festival Headquarters lives on Regent Street between 100 and 200 South — that's where you'll find the info booth, the Bank Booth, the Medical Tent, and the Busker Bar. Main Street and the Eccles Lobby join the lineup with cabaret acts and live music, so be sure to wander both stretches.

Food + Drink. The festival footprint is packed with marvelous local restaurants worth supporting: Pretty Bird, Maize Tacos, China Bistro, Fresh Fin, Honest Eatery, Urban Gyro & Chicken, and Rockwell Ice Cream. City Creek Center sits one block north with even more delicious options.

The Busker Bar. Ogden's Own Distilling is pouring craft cocktails, wine, and beer at two locations — one on Main Street in front of Eccles, and one on McCarthey Plaza by Pretty Bird. 21+ with valid ID, every time, no exceptions.

Getting to the Greatest Show

  • Main Street stays open to traffic; Regent Street between 100 and 200 South is closed to traffic for the weekend during the festival.
  • Access the Regent Street Parking Garage via State Street.
  • TRAX runs on its regular schedule, and the entire festival sits inside the Free Fare Zone — easily the most charming way to arrive.
  • City Creek Garage offers free parking for the first two hours, with plenty of other nearby garages and on-street options.

ADA accessibility. Busker Fest is ADA accessible, with a drop-off location at 131 S Main Street, right in front of Eccles Theater.

Take a Bow, Salt Lake

Busker Fest isn't just a weekend of street performers — it's a love letter to the kind of city Salt Lake is becoming. Vibrant. Surprising. A little wondrously weird in all the best ways. The Salt Lake City Arts Council is over the moon to bring it back for another year, and we cannot wait to see you out there, cheering, gasping, and stuffing the hat.

Pack your small bills. Bring a friend (or three). Clear two evenings on your calendar. The unicorn will be expecting you.
