Stacy Phillips: Beyond Likeness: Faces of Humanity
I am proposing an art show that embraces the limitless possibilities of creative expression. Focused on the theme of portraiture, I seek to explore the human face through mixed media, allowing for a dynamic and unrestricted artistic process. This exhibition will provide me with the freedom of space and the absence of constraints to fully immerse myself in the creation and curation of my work. By pushing the boundaries of traditional portraiture, I aim to capture the essence and diversity of the human experience boldly and innovatively.
Stacy Phillips is based in Salt Lake City. Her art career, influenced by frequent relocations throughout her life, reflects a wide-ranging creative toolbox. Stacy majored in fine arts at Keene State College and minored in business and graphic design, aiding her adeptness in both artistic creation and business management. Stacy’s current focus is exploring the portrait through mixed media. Stacy maintains two studios at the Poor York Studios in Salt Lake City and serves as the Working Artist of Utah for Golden Paints. Stacy is in her sixth year as a Head Coach for the international Art Program, Art2life.
Cam McLeod: The Cricket's Song
In the final months of his life, I photographed my father as he transitioned from life to death due to Parkinson's and Dementia, a similar fate that claimed his father and my paternal grandfather. The Cricket’s Song interweaves photographs of my father with my grandfather's poetry which were discovered while working on the project. This project aims to address the specific experience of living with an incurable disease that preys on the mind while also touching on a more universal theme—the love and loss of those we hold dear and what we may discover about ourselves if we surrender to the experience of grief.
Cam McLeod (b. 1982) is a visual artist working in mediums of digital and analog photography, and film. McLeod’s work reflects the contemporary human experience, its relationship to nature and deals with themes of home and belonging. His imagery is characterized by its tactile quality and lifelike depth with an authentic perspective that equally captures stimulating and subtle moments. His body of work, which extends from advertising photography to fine art, hinges on narrative experiences and McLeod’s innate ability to build complex storylines from a single frame.
