BROWN BAG CONCERT SERIES

The Brown Bag Concert Series provides professional development and activation opportunities to local performing artists including musicians and singers to engage with audiences and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of public parks, plazas and businesses.

A set of FREE music concerts presented by the Salt Lake City Arts Council. The series is committed to showcasing and supporting local artists and their professional development, as well as generating vibrancy throughout the city in geographically diverse areas and within various business entities.

To adhere to COVID-19 public health and safety guidelines, this year the series will by a hybrid of both virtual/live streamed shows within several of Salt Lake City’s amazing empty event spaces as well as LIVE shows at outdoor locations in and around the city. All shows will take place during the months of April and May 2021.

The Meadowlark String Band

The Meadow Lark String Band weaves words, warbles songs, and delights creatures of all ages with their stories and music. Bringing together their collective experiences as performers and life enthusiasts, Melissa Chilinski and Roz Newmark thoroughly enjoy sharing the marvel of spinning yarns. Melissa has been an active musician for a decade, impressing audiences with her abilities on guitar, banjo , and vocals. For over twenty years Roz performed as a storyteller with Ripple Tales, a duo, who blended story, movement, song and audience participation. Now, building a new tradition, the Meadow Lark String Band Storytellers will they lay down the bread crumbs that can lead you back to your childlike wonder of life. If you’re afraid a smile might crack you face, it is strongly advised that you do not venture into their world of melodies and magic!

Mel Soul

Mel Soul is a singer and songwriter from Orem, UT. She has been vocally trained by vocal professionals Rebecca Chock and Mindy Pack. In 2009 she had the great opportunity singing with the Provo High School Chamber Singers for an exclusive concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City. 2012 was when her love of songwriting began. Since then she has worked with songwriter professionals Rich Parkinson, Shane Adams, Johnny London and most recently for a brief review of her work the well known accomplished singer and songwriter Natasha Bedingfield. Her goal as a songwriter and performer is to inspire her fans to love themselves to love everyone else.

Branson Anderson

Ranch hand, truck driver, and troubadour are three titles to describe and understand the singer-songwriter Branson Anderson. Among others: poet, itinerant, Scorpio. As a Utah based folk-rocker, label-makers ask him, “Are you a rocker or a folk singer?” To which Anderson replies: “What’s the difference?”
