The exhibition Common Threads was created by a group of local artists who share a common inspiration of fiber and textile. Each artist approaches textile and fiber differently through the use of a variety of media. Some artists work with fiber literally, while others use fiber and textile as conceptual inspiration for their work. The exhibition will include woven paper, altered everyday objects reflecting common daily usage, screenprints representing movement through the past and present, fabric work investigating the ritual of repetition, repurposes textiles, and sewn objects which facilitate a blurring of traditional craft and contemporary art.
