The Salt Lake City Arts Council hires new Arts Program Coordinator, Dawn Borchardt

The Salt Lake City Arts Council is proud to introduce the new Arts Program Coordinator, Dawn Borchardt. Dawn began her new role in December of last year, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience working in event and film festival producing, non-profit work, and filmmaking. She has previously produced the Freeland Film Festival; worked in operations at Sundance Film Fest and AFI Film Fest; and managed Preservation Utah’s event venue Memorial House. Dawn also contributes to promoting film production and travel in our beautiful state of Utah by being an ambassador for government agencies Visit Utah and Utah Film Commision.

Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Dawn has been living in Salt Lake City for 5 years after falling in love with the city’s natural landscape, arts and culture, and laid-back lifestyle. She believes in the mission of supporting local art and artists, and expanding art awareness, access and participation with the public. She is an experimental filmmaker and hosts a filmmaker interview podcast, Faux Reel. Her work has focused on highlighting important social issues and inspiring change, uplifting under-represented and female voices, and exploring experimental ideas and creative practices.

In her new position as Art Program Coordinator, Dawn will directly manage the Salt Lake City Arts Council’s Living Traditions Presents Program, along with Twilight Concert Series, Monday’s in the Park, and more! She is passionate about multi-disciplinary arts, inspiring people through story, and connecting with diverse storytellers and communities, making her the perfect candidate for this position to showcase and support artistic and diverse perspectives through the presentation of performing arts and facilitating thoughtful conversations about the unique qualities of various cultures. She will be an asset to strengthening and creating bonds among community members. This position also works with partners in the community to assist in efforts to make Salt Lake City an even greater place to live, work, and play.
