SUPERVISOR: Production Lead

EMPLOYMENT LENGTH: May 13, 2024 – May 22, 2024

PART TIME/FULL TIME: Part-time Seasonal

COMPENSATION: $22 per hour

NOTE: Projected hours for the duration of employment are approximately 70 hours.

DESCRIPTION:

These positions assist in the production of the Living Traditions Festival, a free and public festival which has served upwards of 30,000 members of the public each year for 38 years. These positions are responsible for the assistance in the execution of all production related activities during our annual, Living Traditions Festival. The Production Assistants directly support the Production Lead and Performing Arts Program Manager, operating in whatever capacity necessary to ensure successful execution of the Festival, among other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Execution & Monitoring

  • Distribute and set-up canopies/tents, tables, chairs, barricades, banners, associated displays, and garbage & recycling cans around event grounds;
  • Assist production lead in helping manage all festival production staff in the successful execution of related plans, timelines, and production efforts;
  • Install environmental graphics & directional signage around event grounds, ensuring a high degree of professionalism and quality production standards are met;
  • Manage setup of beverage stations, artist green rooms, and vendor areas;
  • Monitor radio transmissions, respond to calls for Production assistance and troubleshoot issues as they arise;
  • Assist Stage Managers, audio vendors, and other related production contractors with stage changeover between artist performances, and other circumstances as needed;
  • Strike and restoration of festival grounds in cooperation with production staff and other festival vendors, ensuring quality and precision while remaining safe and efficient.
  • Aid in the organization, inventory, and storage of production material and supplies. 
  • Support Production Lead in all miscellaneous production aspects of the Living Traditions Festival. 

Other Duties as Assigned

  • This may include a variety of tasks and responsibilities such as assisting other key festival staff and vendors, supporting the execution of logistical plans, and other duties related to the production of the Living Traditions Festival.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Prefer experience in working for large scale festivals or events. During the festival, this position requires long hours during the Summer weather with demanding physical labor requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal) required;
  • Professional and positive attitude and demeanor (tact, sensitivity, positivity, and diplomacy);
  • Detail oriented, able to audit work to avoid mistakes, and perform tasks accurately;
  • Ability to think and act quickly under pressure;
  • Strong teamwork skills;
  • Positive attitude; 
  • Able to lift upwards of 75 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time;
  • Preferable to have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (may be required to use a personal vehicle).
