SUPERVISOR: Performing Arts Program Manager

EMPLOYMENT LENGTH: May 17, 2024 – May 19, 2024

PART TIME/FULL TIME: Part-time Seasonal

COMPENSATION: $30 per hour

NOTE: Projected hours for the duration of employment are approximately 40 hours.

DESCRIPTION:

This position, Stage Manager, is responsible for hosting/managing one of our three stages at the Living Traditions Festival, a free and public festival which has served upwards of 30,000 members of the public each year for 37 years. The Stage Managers ensures proper performance flow, coordinating with performers, emcees, and the audio technician. The Stage Manager directly reports to the Artist Relations Lead and the Arts Program Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Queueing and organizing groups prior to their performances.
  • Troubleshooting performances and seeing that the performers have what they need and that performances proceed successfully and on time.
  • Coordinating with audio technicians for any and all performance needs.
  • Ensuring the emcee is prepared and/or acting as the emcee for performers when needed.
  • Stage Manager is responsible for serving both the needs of the performers and the audience.
  • Communicating any issues immediately to the Artist Relations Lead.
  • Stage Manager will manage the stage for the entire duration of its operation at the Festival - May 17, 18, & 19, 2024. Times listed below include 30 minutes before gates open and 30 minutes after gates close.
    • Friday May 17th 8:30am-10:30pm
    • Saturday May 18th 11:30am-10:30pm 
    • Sunday May 19th 11:30am-7:30pm
  • In the event of inclement weather, executing the backup plan for their respective stage, and ensuring that proper safety protocols are in place.
  • Ensuring stage safety and presentability with regards to proper signage, cleanliness, safety, ramps, stairs, etc. Communicating any issues to the Production Lead.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have experience in working for large scale festivals or events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal) required. 
  • Professional and positive attitude and demeanor (tact, sensitivity, positivity, and diplomacy). 
  • Detail oriented, able to audit work to avoid mistakes, and perform tasks accurately; 
  • Ability to think and act quickly under pressure. 
  • Knowledge in project management and teamwork. 
  • Positive attitude. 
  • Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. 
  • This position requires ability to work in long Summer hours with heat and possible inclement weather.
