The Salt Lake City Arts Council announces that the application for the Brown Bag Concert Series is now available. Artists interested in performing in the series and learning more about the program can find more information in the 2015 Guidelines and Application. Applications will be accepted through Friday, May 1.
The Brown Bag Concert Series is a summer music program of free concerts in downtown Salt Lake City. Local performers will represent a variety of performing arts elements including music, dance, and other performing disciplines. Concerts are held Monday through Friday, during the noon hour at a variety of downtown parks and plazas. The series, now in its 38th year, begins Monday, August 3, 2015 and continues through Friday, August 28, 2015. The full schedule of artists, as well as venue locations, will be announced by the end of June.
Although touring artists can apply and will be considered, the primary focus of the Brown Bag Concert Series is the advocacy and promotion of local performing artists. The Brown Bag Concert Series gives special consideration to the performance of original works as well as unique/contemporary renditions of musical standards (i.e. classical music, blues and jazz standards).
